Carmel Fire Department Dedication Ceremony at CarmelFest

During the CarmelFest Celebration on July 4th at 3:00 p.m., festival-goers will have the opportunity to participate in a new Ladder Truck dedication ceremony and Fire Grant presentation at the Carmel Fire Department - 2 Civic Square in Carmel.

The new Ladder Truck will be dedicated and christened in true “firefighting tradition” by wetting down the vehicle with a firefighter hose line, then allowing firefighters, staff, and the public to dry off the truck with complimentary commemorative towels.  Afterward, on-lookers will help push the newly christened vehicle into the fire station bay.

As part of the ceremony, the Carmel Fire Department will be presented a $10,000 grant from Liberty Mutual Insurance.  This grant was awarded to the Carmel Fire Department after they placed first in a nationwide contest promoting fire safety.  According to Keith Freer, CFD Public Education Officer, “The Carmel Fire Department is greatly appreciative to everyone who participated in the CFD fire safety quiz program and who helped make awarding this grant possible.”  To expand their safety education program, the Carmel Fire Department plans to purchase a tabletop Hazard House to use to teach children and adults home fire safety.

Come join the Carmel Fire Department and celebrate the dedication of our new fire truck and receipt of the fire grant.  For more information, visit the Carmel Fire Department web site at www.CarmelFD.com.
